Alexandre de la Taille is Professor and Head of Urology at CHU Henri Mondor – Assistance Publique des Hopitaux de Paris, in Paris, France, where he also leads the programme in robotic surgery. Prof. de la Taille undertook a research fellowship at Columbia University, in New York, NY, USA from 1997 to 1999, before completing his MD and PhD theses in 2000.

Prof. de la Taille’s research and clinical activity in the field of uro-oncology focus on the prostate, and includes benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and cancer. His main research programmes include discovery and validation of biomarkers for high-risk prostate cancer, inflammation in BPH, prostate cancer, uro-oncology, and robotic surgery approaches.

Prof. de la Taille teaches and has spoken on urology, robotic surgery, and the molecular biology of prostate cancer at Paris XII University, in Paris, the Institute for Research into Cancer of the Digestive System (IRCAD), in Strasburg, France, and at meetings of the American Urological Association (AUA) and the European Association of Urology (EAU). Previously, he has served as a member of the EAU Scientific Office.

Prof. de la Taille’s work has received numerous honours and awards, such as the EAU Best Thesis Award, the EAU Crystal Matula Award, in 2006, and first prize in the Research Category of the AUA/Circon-ACMI Prize Essay Contest, in 1999. He has written over 500 published articles, predominantly focusing on prostate cancer.
