Prof. Johan Vansteenkiste is a Professor of Internal Medicine in the faculty of medicine, at the Catholic University of Leuven; and Head of Clinic in the Respiratory Oncology Unit and its Clinical Trial Unit at the Leuven University Hospital; Belgium.
In his dedication to improving outcomes for patients in thoracic oncology, Prof. Vansteenkiste’s work has encompassed: mutation analyses, immunotherapy; and personalised and mutation-targeted therapeutics, including EGFR-TKI development for early stage and metastatic disease. He is principal or co-investigator in several clinical trials in the area of lung cancer, and has authorship on more than 350 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters in respiratory oncology.
Recipient of the 2021 ESMO/IASLC Heine H. Hansen Award for outstanding contributions to education and research in lung cancer; Prof. Vansteenkiste’s memberships include: ESMO, IASLC, ASCO, and ERS. He has also chaired an ESMO European Lung Cancer Conference, and serves as: a member of the ESMO Lung Educational Group and Guidelines Group; an Associate Editor for Annals of Oncology; and an editorial board member of several other journals.EM-69874 - Date of preparation: August 2021
