Jochen Walz is Assistant Professor in Urology and is currently Head of Urology at the Institut Paoli-Calmettes, Cancer Research Centre of Marseille in France. He received his medical degree at the University of Mainz in Germany and completed his residency at both the University of Hamburg in Germany and Aix-Marseille University in France. He is a board-certified urologist, Fellow of the European Board of Urology (FEBU) and a research fellow of the Cancer Prognostics and Health Outcomes Unit at the University of Montreal in Canada.
Dr Walz’s main research interests are: uro-oncology, including imaging in urology; various aspects of prostate cancer such as imaging and diagnosis, prediction tools, life expectancy and surgical treatment; and minimally invasive surgery.
Dr Walz has won numerous awards, including several best poster and video awards, from international and national congresses. He is a member of the European Association of Urology (EAU) Scientific Committee, a former Chair of the EAU Section of Urological Imaging, and a member of several professional associations including the American Urological Association, the German Society of Urology (DGU, and the DGU Urological Imaging Working Group. Additionally, he is a faculty member of prestigious institutions including the European School of Urology and the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology.
