Expert bio

Joe O’Sullivan has been Professor of Radiation Oncology at the Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology, Queen’s University, Belfast, UK, since 2011. He has been a prostate cancer oncologist at the Northern Ireland Cancer Centre in Belfast, since 2014, and served as Clinical Director of Oncology at the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, in Belfast, from 2014 to 2017. Prof. O’Sullivan graduated from University College Dublin, Dublin, Ireland, and trained at St Luke’s Hospital, in Dublin, before undertaking a Clinical Research Fellowship at The Royal Marsden in London, UK, where he completed his PhD.

Prof. O’Sullivan is a Director of the FASTMAN Prostate Cancer Centre of Excellence (Belfast and Manchester, UK) – a 5-year research programme funded by Movember and Prostate Cancer UK, which was renewed in 2019. Additionally, Prof. O’Sullivan has been a voting panel member of the APCCC since 2019.

Prof. O’Sullivan’s research includes bone-seeking radionuclide therapy in metastatic prostate cancer and clinical trials in advanced prostate cancer; he has published over 100 research papers.
