Professor Daniele Santini is Professor of Medical Oncology and Vice-Director of Specialization in the School of Medical Oncology, at the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome, in Rome, Italy, and Chief of Medical Oncology at the Trigoria hospital, Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome. He also serves as President of the medical degree course at the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome, and as Adjunct Professor, in the Department of Biology, at Temple University’s College of Science and Technology, in Philadelphia, PA, USA.

Professor Santini completed his medical degree, in 1990, and a residency in medical oncology, in 1994, at the Sapienza University of Rome, in Rome, Italy, and subsequently completed his PhD in immunopharmacology, in 2001, at the University of Palermo, in Palermo, Italy. Prior to his current role, Professor Santini worked as a doctor at the Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital, in Rome, before being appointed Assistant Professor, and subsequently, Associate Professor of General Pathology, at the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome.

As an expert in his field, Professor Santini is co-author of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Clinical Practice Guidelines for the management of cancer pain (2012), and has, since 2008, served as coordinator of the national guidelines on the treatment of bone metastases for the Italian Association of Medical Oncology (AIOM). He has been awarded a number of research projects, and, in 2013, won the “Fondazione G. Berlucchi” prize for cancer research.

Professor Santini has authored over 450 publications in international journals, and is Editor-in-Chief of Expert Opinion on Therapeutic Targets since 2013, and Academic Editor of PLOS ONE since 2014. He is also a reviewer of publications in oncology and general pathology for many international scientific journals including Annals of Oncology, the British Journal of Cancer, Cancer, Cancer Letters, Clinical Cancer Research, the Journal of Clinical Oncology, the New England Journal of Medicine, Pharmacogenomics, and The Oncologist. Professor Santini serves on the Editorial Board of over 20 international scientific journals, including BMC Cancer, Cancer Biology & Therapy, ESMO Open: Cancer Horizons, Critical Reviews in Oncology/Haematology, Expert Opinion on Therapeutic Targets, Expert Opinion on Biological Therapy, Expert Opinion on Emerging Drugs, the Journal of Bone Oncology, Journal of Experimental and Clinical Cancer Research, Oncology, Pharmacogenomics, and PLOS ONE.
