Dr Marina Garassino is the Head of the Thoracic Oncology unit at the National Cancer Institute of Milan, Italy. The founder and former chair (2003–2007) of the AIOM Giovani (Italian Young Oncologists Committee), Dr Garassino is currently serving as chair of the ESMO National Societies Committee, and is an active member of several ESMO committees in the areas of education, publication and public policy. She is the founder and president of Women for Oncology Italy.
She is principal investigator of several international and national trials, and has contributed to over 160 peer-reviewed publications. Her principle areas of research include thoracic malignancies, immuno-oncology and precision medicine.
