Jan Philipp Radtke is a Consultant in urology and Assistant Professor of Urology in the Department of Urology at the University Hospital Essen, in Essen, Germany, since 2019, where he specialises in uro-oncology. Dr Radtke is also a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Radiology at the German Cancer Research Center, in Heidelberg, Germany, and is undertaking an MBA in medicine management at the Westfälische Wilhelms-University in Münster, Germany, which he will complete in 2021.

He obtained his medical degree at the University of Cologne, Cologne, Germany, and at Kantonsspital St Gallen, St Gallen, Switzerland, and Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich, Zurich, Switzerland, in 2011, before completing a residency in the Department of Urology at Heidelberg University Medical Center, in Heidelberg and a postdoctoral fellowship at the German Cancer Research Center, from 2014 to 2016. In 2017, Dr Radtke earned the title of Fellow of the European Board of Urologists (FEBU), and he obtained the venia legendi for urology in 2018. Previously, he was a Consultant in the Department of Urology at Heidelberg University from 2017 to 2019.

His research interests focus on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the prostate and the pelvis, MRI/ transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) fusion biopsy, risk stratification of prostate cancer, prediction of extracapsular extension prior to radical prostatectomy, and prostate-specific membrane antigen positron emission tomography (PSMA-PET) imaging. His clinical focus is on diagnosis and surgical (open and robotic) and systemic treatment of renal and prostate malignancies.

Dr Radtke has co-authored more than 70 peer-reviewed papers, reviews, and multiple book chapters.
